Blog - July 2025: Discover the key new features and improvements in Flexera FNMS 2025 R1, including enhanced cloud support, license management, and accessibility updates.

Nutanix and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) now fully supported

FNMS 2025 R1 adds support for Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV), allowing complete inventory and license tracking across Nutanix VM-host environments. Similarly, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is now detected natively as a cloud service provider, alongside AWS, Azure, and GCP. These integrations enhance coverage across private and public clouds.

Enhanced Microsoft 365 management for government environments

A new adapter for Microsoft 365 GCC High enables U.S. Government customers to securely import license and usage data from Azure Government. ITAM teams can now view available vs. assigned licenses, user-level insights, and usage metrics for apps like Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook within regulated environments.

Deeper cloud and container visibility

This release improves control and accuracy in virtualized and containerized infrastructure:

  • Kubernetes clusters can now be named manually using the new clusterName parameter.
  • The Tanium adapter now supports cloud property imports for better normalization and reporting.
  • VMware vSAN details are now recognized and shown in inventory views, including licensing and capacity metrics.

Accessibility and UI upgrades

Significant updates to the web interface ensure WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance. Enhancements include:

  • A responsive layout that adapts to screen size
  • Improved keyboard navigation and screen reader support
  • Optimized color contrast and form interactions

These improvements deliver a more inclusive and efficient experience for all users.

License key management made easier

Managing software license keys has been streamlined with a new License Keys tab in the License Properties view. Key features include:

  • Grid views for tracking available and assigned license keys
  • CSV import with optional fields for expiry date and comments
  • License key data now accessible in Report Builder for custom reporting

Optimized SQL support and performance

FNMS 2025 R1 now supports Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and 2022 only, dropping support for older versions no longer under Microsoft’s mainstream support. This change brings performance gains, especially in overnight reconciliation, thanks to better-optimized SQL queries.

Improved reporting and compliance accuracy

To support more accurate software compliance:

  • Compliance status logic has been unified across all license views
  • Cluster names are now visible in all inventory views
  • New Report Builder fields show VM counts by OS type (Windows, RHEL, SUSE) per host and cluster

These updates make license calculation and allocation more precise.

Security, evidence, and importer enhancements

Additional improvements include:

  • CyberArk integration support extended to third-party inventory adapters
  • Full compatibility with IIS 10 for enhanced security configuration
  • SWID tag processing now supports the 2015 ISO standard
  • The Business Importer can now map expiry dates and comments to license key records
